Thurman Vs. Jarvis – Weigh-in Results For Sydney

Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman and Brock Jarvis both weighed in successfully at 153 3/4 lbs for their 10-round junior middleweight fight on March 12th at the Hordern Pavilion, in Sydney, Australia. Thuman (30-1, 22 KOs) looked in excellent shape for someone coming off a three-year layoff. You can tell he’s put in the work.

Age & Inactivity
You can’t rule out Thurman, 36, losing this fight because of his age and inactivity. When he was still active, he never beat any of the killers at welterweight. His best wins came against Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia. When he stepped it up against 40-year-old Manny Pacquiao, he lost.
The Thurman vs. Jarvis event will be shown on the PBC YouTube channel on Wednesday, March 12.
The younger fighter, 27-year-old Jarvis (22-1, 20 KOs), looked a little drained. One could tell that he’d pushed himself hard to lose weight and get down to the 154-lb limit. Brock has bulked up over the last seven years. It’s hard to believe that Jarvis was fighting at bantamweight [118 lbs] in 2018.
Granted, he was 20 then, but that’s a considerable jump up in weight for someone that has already reached that age. His power is good, but he’s super fast, and that could be a problem for him. In Jarvis’ recent fight, his jab looked weak and slow. He seemed to be tentative about throwing his power shots, and that was against a journeyman, Adrian Rodriguez (13-10-2).
“That’s the key for Keith, his delivery system. He’s always been a wide puncher, and with that technique, he brings his whole body into the rhythm and the technique of the punch,” said Shawn Porter to the media about Keith Thurman’s punching form ahead of his fight against Brock Jarvis.
“I saw Keith knocking out guys when we were 15 and 16-years-old. The power that he has is real. I think we saw it kind of fade away at 147 lbs. I think he’s like me. He became more of a boxer and more of a point fighter. I wasn’t trying to be a point fighter. I was trying to be fast. I think at 154, we’ll see that power come back like it used to be,” said Porter.
