Devin Haney’s Rematch Dreams Hinge On Surviving Jose Ramirez’s Onslaught

Devin Haney has taken to philosophizing to empower himself ahead of his fight against Jose Ramirez in the co-feature slot on the May 2nd Fatal Fury event at Times Square in New York City. Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) wants his followers to know that he’s adapting and not stubbornly refusing to change from how he fought in the past.
Wise Words?
In a quote that appears to have come from the 18th-century German philosopher Immanuel Kent, the former two-division world champion Haney says, “Wise man change, but a fool never will.” Unfortunately, the problems that led to Devin losing to Ryan Garcia last April are beyond change.
Being flexible and willing to adapt won’t fix Haney’s shaky punch resistance or grant him power that he was never designed to possess. Some fighters are born with huge power, and you don’t acquire it by mentally deciding to change after reading philosophy books.
Haney is not going to possess the power or the chin to stay in the pocket against the former WBC and WBO light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez on May 2nd. The 2012 U.S Olympian Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs) hits too hard, and his entire career has centered around him slugging it out with his opponents.

“Salt Mines?”
Devin needs a win over Ramirez to get the lucrative rematch he’s been pining away for against Ryan Garcia. A loss to Ramirez will ruin that dream, sending Haney back to the salt mines, where he’s forced to toil away with the other hungry predators trying to get ahead.
Understandably, Haney wants the rematch with Ryan because the money he’ll make from that fight will be huge. But he won’t be able to get that fight just by babbling stuff that he got from a philosophy book.
If he doesn’t possess the power or the chin to deal with Jose Ramirez’s aggressive style, he won’t last long against him. This guy is planning to finish what Ryan Garcia started. He’s already talking about wanting to attack Haney’s chin to duplicate what Kingry did but finish the job.
