Canelo Slams Eubank Jr.’s ‘Scripted’ Egg Attack, Claims Plant Beef Was Real

Canelo Alvarez told an annoying, finger-pointing interviewer with DAZN today that he believes the Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn egging was a scripted move that wasn’t as “authentic” as his altercation with Caleb Plant at the face-off in their kick-off press conference on September 21, 2021.
Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs) had already planned his strategic egging of Benn, slyly stashing his cargo in his coat, and taking advantage of his close proximity to Conor during their face-off on February 25th to smack him.
‘Not Authentic’
“They already knew what was going to happen. Here is authentic,” said Canelo Alvarez to DAZN Boxing, comparing what he believes was a scripted move by Chris Eubank Jr. to smack Conor Benn in the face with an egg to his altercation with Caleb Plant during their face-off in 2021.
Canelo’s altercation with former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant came in their kick-off press conference because, according to him, he was angry at him calling him a “mother-f****.” However, some boxing fans believe the true reason why Canelo shoved Plant was because he’s called him a “cheater” during his time at the podium, alluding to Alvarez having tested positive for a banned PED in the past.
In comparison to Eubank Jr’s planned egging, Canelo’s altercation with Plant was more authentic and not premeditated. He was angry with Plant, and when he got close to him during their face-off, he took advantage of the situation to shove him.
Plant then went after Canelo, throwing a left-hand slap. Canelo retaliated with a left-right combination that knocked the sunglasses off Caleb, cutting his face in the process. The altercation created a lot of buzz and got fans interested in purchasing the event on PPV.
Eubank Jr. picked the wrong time to hit Benn with an egg, because it would have been better if he’d waited until the final press conference or weigh-in this week to smack him to create the most noise.
