Billam-Smith Ready For War With Puncher Glanton, Eyes Ramirez Or Opetaia

Former WBO cruiserweight champion Chris Billiam-Smith wants to look good defeating Brandon Glanton in their 12-round undercard fight this Saturday, on DAZN PPV, and use the victory to get a quick world title shot. Billiam-Smith vs. Glanton are fighting on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The main card starts at 5 pm BST / 12 pm ET / 9 am PT. Billiam-Smith (20-2, 13 KOs) lost his WBO title to Gilberto Ramirez on November 16th last year in a bloodbath fight. He landed some huge shots on Ramirez throughout the fight, but was outmaneuvered.
Billiam-Smith is ranked #4 WBC and #4 WBO. So, he should get pushed up the rankings with a victory over #3 WBA Glanton (20-2, 17 KOs). This fight will be more of a war than Chris’ last one against Ramirez, because Glanton, 33, is a puncher and will be trying to knock him out.
Undercard Line-up
– Anthony Yarde vs. Lyndon Arthur
– Liam Smith vs. Aaron McKenna (Middleweight)
– Chris Billam-Smith vs. Brandon Glanton
– Viddal Riley vs. Cheavon Clarke
“Brandon Glanton, I’ve seen a few clips of him. He comes forward with an entertaining style, a big puncher, which can only make for a great fight,” said Chris Billiam-Smith to Punchout Boxing about his opponent for Saturday, Glanton.
Brandon is the type of opponent that Billiam-Smith, 34, has done well against during his career. The only question is whether the scar tissue over his eyes has had enough time to heal from his fight against Ramirez. If Billiam-Smith starts bleeding all over the place, Glanton will take advantage of it.
Title Aspirations
“We’ve done our homework. Training has been good, and we’ve had a good camp,” said Billiam-Smith. “We’ve had similar height and sparring partners that we’ve flown in. Now, it’s just up to me to go in and do the job. We’ll have to wait and see,” said Billiam-Smith when asked when he thinks he’ll be fighting for a world title.
“Yeah, realistically, I think Jai [Opetaia] and [Gilberto] Ramirez are probably going to fight. If I were either of them, I’d be looking at exactly the same thing. So, it makes sense. Yeah, I’m interested in getting a world title back. Either one of those champions, I’ll be looking at after Saturday.
“The plan is to get the win on Saturday, look good, and straight back to the world titles. I’m with the governing bodies’ rankings, and also what I’ve done in my career, I think I’ll be straight back in there,” said Billiam-Smith to Secondsout.
