Kambosos Jr. Explodes: Confrontation With Hitchins Over $50K Bet And Disrespect Escalates At Press Conference In NYC

George Kambosos Jr. went postal during Thursday’s final when IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins got in his face, and pulled out what he says was $50,000 in cash, daring him to bet on the outcome of their fight this Saturday, June 14th, in New York City.

$50K Bet, Disrespect Erupts
Richardson wouldn’t back off and was standing in Kambosos’ personal space, saying repeatedly, “Bet the f*** money, p****.” He was disrespecting George. “It’s fake money,” said ‘The Emperor’ Kambosos, who believes it a theatrical prop for Richardson to try and make him look cowardly when he refused to bet.
Hitchins intended to humiliate Kambosos, who is a proud person. His career has gone downhill since 2022. It was cruel for Hitchinns to try to embarrass him by trying to shame him into betting $50,000 in a fight where he’s the underdog with very little chance of winning.
Kambosos Jr. (22-3, 10 KOs) lost his temper and shoved Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) to get him to back off and return to his chair. Things got worse when Kambosos’ father appeared to hit Hitchins’ trainer, Lenny Wilson, with the microphone. Wilson picked up a chair and had to be restrained from using it.
“I really want to have a knock right now. I’m not here to play around. So, if he wants to have a crack, we have a crack Aussie style. I’m from Sydney,” said George Kambosos Jr. to Fight Hub, reacting to the altercation he had with Richardson Hitchins during today’s final press conference.
Tickets Still Remain New York
You could tell from Kambosos’ reaction that this wasn’t a fake incident to try and sell tickets to their event on Saturday, June 14th, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Earlier this week, Kamboso announced that 4,000 tickets remain for the 5,600-seat venue.
“Yeah, we’re in New York. What do I care? You got your boys, bring your boys. I got boys, too. I got boys worldwide,” said Kambosos. “I’ve got real killers that will come in a second. Don’t try to play me. I was respectful and nice. But don’t come in my face flashing money like I ain’t made eight figures multiple times in the game.
Fake Money, Jewelry Claims
“That s*** is fake as well,” said Kambosos when asked if he thinks the jewelry Hitchins was wearing was real. You can get that fake money. The present stuff.”
