Tyson Fury Believes He Won Oleksandr Usyk Rematch, Remains “Bitter” About Decision

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman says he spoke to Tyson Fury about him coming out of retirement, and he states that he’s “bitter’ about his decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch last December.

Tyson Fury Thinks He Won

Fury is still stewing on his loss to Usyk, undoubtedly replaying the image of the fight in his head. Get this: he thinks he won.

Sulaiman states that he Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) was unhappy with the scoring by the judges, who had Usyk winning 116-112, 116-112, and 116-112. Surprisingly, Fury thinks he was given a bad deal by the judging crew for the fight, believing he was the rightful winner.

Most fans believe Fury clearly lost the fight. The rematch was one-sided, with Usyk taking advantage of Fury’s slow gait to box circles around him, hitting and moving away.

Fury’s Condition Foiled Chances

What foiled Fury’s chances of winning was his condition. He looked flabby around the midsection, weighing in at 281 pounds, which was the heaviest career weight for the Gypsy King. He’d been more effective in the first fight with Usyk at 261 lbs last year in May.

The one that was given a raw deal wth Usyk in his first fight with Fury. That was the one where Oleksandr had Tyson hurt in the ninth round, where he landed a barrage of punches, and had him bouncing off the ropes.

Usyk was shoved out of the way by the referee at the moment, and he was about to land the finishing punch against the helpless, entirely out of it, Fury. The referee surprisingly gave Fury a rare standing eight count, which ultimately saved him from being knocked out.

If Fury is going to continue to be salty about his loss, he may never come back. That’s his loss because he’s missing out on all that loot he could make fighting Anthony Joshua twice.
