Boxing Results: Katie Taylor Tops Amanda Serrano In Historic Third Encounter At Packed Madison Square Garden

2012 Olympic Gold Medalist and current WBO, WBC, IBF, and IBO Super Lightweight champion Katie Taylor (25-1, 6 KOs) won a 10-round majority decision over Amanda “The Real Deal’ Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KOs) on Friday night in front of a soldout crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
In the first six rounds, there were too few punches landed, falling short for the most part, with Serrano the aggressor. In the seventh round, Taylor had an edge over Serrano in the eighth round.
In the ninth round, it was close with Serrano having an edge. In the tenth and final round, it was probably the best of the fight. A draw would be right.
The scores were 95-95, 97-93, and 97-93. Harvey Dock was the referee.
IBF, IBO, WBO super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney (11-0, 6 KOs) defeated WBC super bantam champ Yamileth ‘Yeimi’ Mercado (24-4, 5 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision to unify titles.
In the first five rounds, Scotney had an edge using a left hook for the most part. In the sixth, both Scotney and Mercado were cut over the right eye. In the ninth round, Scotney threw Mercado to the canvas. In the tenth and final round, the brawl continued with Scotney taking another round with blood flowing from both.
The scores were 100-90, 98-92, and 98-92. Sparkle Lee was the referee.
In the co-main event, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO super featherweight champ Alycia ‘The Bomb’ Baumgardner (16-1, 7 KOs) beat Jennifer Miranda (12-1, 1 KO) by a 10-round unanimous decision.

In the first three rounds, Baumgardner had an edge. In the fourth round’s final seconds, both boxers were landing punches. In the fourth round, Miranda came back to outlandish Baumgardner. In the fifth round, it was Baumgardner outworking Miranda, who came back to take the sixth round.
In the seventh and eighth rounds, Miranda had a slight edge, out-landing Baumgardner. In the ninth round, both had their moments. In the tenth and final round, it was all action to the bell with Baumgardner pulling it out.
The scores were 98-92, 98-92, and 97-93. Ricky Gonzalez was the referee.
IBF World super middleweight champion Savanah ‘Silent Assassin’ Marshall (13-2, 10 KOs) lost a 10-round split decision to WBO World champ Shadasia Green (16-1, 11 KOs).
In the first two rounds, the taller Marshall used her jab to control the rounds. Referee Thomas Taylor warned Green for holding. In the third round, Green came back to win a close round. In the fourth round, referee Taylor took a point from Green for holding.
In the fifth round, Green was outworking Marshall, ending the round with a right on the chin of Marshall. In the sixth through the eighth rounds, Green was outlanding Marshall in an even fight. In the ninth round, Marshall came back well, taking the round. In the tenth and final round, the fans were cheering both boxers as Green may have pulled it out.
The scores were 95-94, 96-93 for Green, and 96-93 for Marshall. Thomas Taylor was the referee.
IBF, WBC, WBO World bantamweight champion Cheneka ‘Sugar Neekz’ Johnson (18-2, 8 KOs) stopped Shurretta ‘Chiccn’ Metcalf (14-5-1, 2 KOs) at 1:02 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10×2 rounds. Charlie Fitch was the referee.
WBC Interim World super lightweight champion Chantelle ‘Il Capo’ Cameron (21-1, 8 KOs) defeated Jessica ’The Cobra’ Camara (14-5-1, 3 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision.
The scores were 99-91, 99-91, and 98-92. The referee was Thomas Taylor.
Super bantamweight Ramla Ali (10-2, 2 KOs) defeated Lila Furtado (11-3, 2 KOs) by an eight-round unanimous decision.
Scores 78-74, 77-75, and 77-75. The referee was Sparkle Lee.
Middleweight Tamm Thibeault (3-0, 2 KOs) stopped southpaw Mary Casamassa (6-1, 1 KO) at 2:18 of the fifth round of a scheduled eight rounds. Charlie Fitch was the referee.
