Boxing Results: Harper And Hughes Claim Dominant Wins In Doncaster

WBO World Lightweight champion Terry Harper (16-2-2, 6 KOs) easily defeated the former WIBF World Super lightweight champion and unbeaten Natalie Zimmermann (13-1, 3 KOs) of Germany by a 10-round unanimous decision on Friday night at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster, Yorkshire, UK.
In the co-main event, Maxie ‘Maximus’ Hughes (29-7-2, 6 KOs) easily defeated Archie ‘Sharpshooter’ Sharp (25-2, 9 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBC Silver lightweight title.
Harper, 28, beat Zimmermann by 10×2 lopsided rounds. In the first two rounds, Harper had her way, having Zimmerman against the ropes on defense numerous times. In the final seconds of the third round, Harper snapped back the head of Zimmerman with a solid jab. In the fourth through the sixth rounds, Harper had her way, having Zimmerman on the receiving end throughout.
In the eighth and ninth rounds, Zimmermann continued coming forward with her hand held high, showing little offense as Harper countered her mostly to the head. In the tenth and final round, with a minute remaining, Zimmermann suffered a nasty cut over her right eye due to a clash of heads, and blood covered her face. The ring physician checked it out, allowing her to continue.

The scores were 99-91, 99-91, and 99-91. Steve Gray was the referee.
Former British and IBO World Light champ Maxi Hughes won a lopsided decision over former WBO Euro champ Archie Sharp by a 12-round unanimous decision.
In the first three rounds, southpaw Hughes had the edge, chasing Sharp around the ring for the most part. Sharp stood his ground in the fourth round, even turning southpaw at times, while Hughes still had an edge.
In the sixth round, Hughes landed a right hook to the chin after a minute. Sharp started showboating to no avail, losing another round. In the seventh round’s final minute, Hughes hurt Sharp with a left hook to the chin.
Hughes rocked Sharp with a combination to the chin in the tenth round’s final minute in this one-sided fight. Hughes landed a right hook to the chin in the eleventh round, hurting Sharp. In the twelfth and final round, Hughes easily won what might be a shutout performance. Sharp didn’t win any fans in this one.
The scores were 115-113, 116-112, and 120-108. Victor Loughlin was the referee.
In an all-action, bloody match, former two-weight English champ Reece Mould (20-4, 6 KOs) lost a split decision over 10 rounds to former English Light champion Lewis Sylvester (16-1, 4 KOs) for the vacant IBO Continental Lightweight title.
In the first round, Sylvester scored well when a right from Mould opened a cut on the left eyebrow of Sylvester in the final minute. Mould scored well into the final seconds in the third round when Sylvester staggered him with a right on the chin.
In the seventh rounds final minute a right from Sylvester opened a cut under the left eyebrow of Mould. In the eighth round, both fighters were covered in blood. Mould’s running down his face and chest while Sylvesters covering his left side, including his entire ear. The ring physician checked Mould’s cut. Sylvester fought the whole of round southpaw, taking another round.
In the tenth and final round, Mould rocked Sylvester with a right on the chin after a minute. The rest of the way, it was all Sylvester going southpaw and orthodox back and forth, taking a close round.
The scores were 97-93 Sylvester, 96-94 Mould, 96-94 Sylvester. Michael Alexander was the referee.
Former British Central champion Jimmy ‘The Young Lion’ Flint (15-3-2, 3 KOs), fighting with an injured right arm, lost to the former EBU Union and WBC Mediterranean champ Haithem ‘The Flash’ Laamouz (21-2, 9 KOs) by a 10 round unanimous decision for the vacant IBO Continental Super Light title.
In the second round, Flint is favoring his right arm, which seemed injured, as Laamouz takes the round. From the third through the fifth round, Flint is only using his left hook for the most part due to an injured right, as Laamouz takes another round outscoring him.
In the eighth and ninth rounds though only using his left Flint seemed to take close rounds. In the tenth and final round, it was another close one as both embraced after the bout came to an end.
The scores were 98-93, 98-92, and 96-94. John Latham was the referee.
Featherweight southpaw Ellie Hellewell (7-0, 1 KO) defeated Stevi Levy (13-4, 1 KO) by a 10-round points decision. Referee John Latham scored it 97-94.
Super Welterweight southpaw Joe Hayden (18-0-1, 1 KO) defeated Lewis Booth (16-2) by an eight-round decision. The score was 78-75. Michael Alexander was the referee.
Super middleweight Taz ‘The Butcher’ Nadeem (6-0, 3 KOs) won a hard-fought six-round decision over Bahadur Karami (4-30-4, 1 KO).
In the first round, hard-hitting Nadeem hurt Karami with a right in the final minute, though he had blood from his own nose. In the final minute of the third round, a chopping right from Karami again drew blood from the nose of Nadeem.
In the fifth round, it went back and forth about who was ahead. Karami’s face is marked up, but he may have taken the round in his eighth fight of the year. Both had moments in the sixth and final round, with Nadeem having an edge.
Referee John Latham scored it 60-55.
Featherweight prospect Edward ‘Farm Boy’ Hardy (4-0, 2 KOs) defeated Darwing Martinez (8-32-2, 6 KOs) by a 6-round points decision.
In the second round, Hardy, halfway through the round, landed a right uppercut to the chin of Martinez, drawing blood from his mouth. In the third round, after half a minute, a left hook from Hardy on the side of the head dropped Martinez for an 8-count from referee Mark Downing.
In the fifth round, after a minute, Hardy tossed Martinez to the canvas because his holding with the referee did not break them apart enough. In the sixth and final round, the referee finally took a point from Martinez for holding. Martinez went into survival mode to get to the distance. When Hardy caught up to him, he worked him over to the body and head.
Referee Mark Downing scored it 60-52.
Super Welterweight Jamie ‘Thorr’ Mellers (8-1, 1 KO) stopped Cameron Kaihau (9-2) at 2:33 of the second round of a scheduled 6-round fight.
In the second round, Mellers had Kaihau out on his feet, forcing Referee John Latham to call a halt.
