Boxing Results: Mason Stops Nakathila – Video Highlights

Abdullah Mason (19-0, 17 KOs) defeated Jeremiah ‘Low Key’ Nakathila (26-5, 21 KOs) by a fifth-round technical knockout in a lightweight bout on Saturday night at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

In the first two rounds, Mason had a slight edge. In the third round, Mason outlanded Nakathila with countering punches. In the fourth round, Mason rocked Nakathila seconds before the end of the round with a left on the chin. Nakathila has significant swelling around the left eye, prompting the physician to call a halt.

In the co-main event, southpaw Kelvin Davis (15-1, 8 KOs) lost a 10-round majority decision to Nahir Albright (17-2, 7 KOs).

In the first round, Albright used a right against southpaw Davis, who managed to take a close round. In the second round, Albright landed an overhand right on the chin, driving Davis against the ropes midway in the round. In the third round, there was too much holding by Davis.

In the fourth rounds final seconds a counter right from Albright on the chin of Davis had him holding on. In the fifth round, Albright would land a punch, and Davis would immediately pull him into a clinch. Referee Malik Waleed needed to take a point away from Davis for continuous holding.

In the seventh round, referee Waleed finally warned Davis for holding. Davis started fighting in the final minute without holding. Albright had a small cut by his right eye due to a headbutt from Davis. In the eighth round, it was close with Albright having a slight edge.

In the ninth round, Albright took another close round. In the tenth and final round, Albright came out and landed a left hook to the chin of Davis, getting his attention, making him grab Albright into a clinch. Out of a clinch, Albright landed a right on the chin of Davis

The scores were 95-95, 97-93, and 96-94.

Middleweight southpaw Euri ‘La Bazuca’ Cedeno (12-0-1, 11 KOs) knocked out Abel ‘Authentic’ Mina (18-4-1, 9 KOs) after five rounds of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first three rounds, Cedeno stalked and outlanded Mina. In the fifth round, Cedeno dropped Mina with a right to the head in the final seconds. At the end of the round, Mina’s corner called a halt.

Welterweight Olympian Delante ‘Tiger’ Johnson (16-0, 7 KOs) defeated Janelson Bocachica (17-4-1, 11 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision.

In the first five rounds, it was close with Johnson having a slight edge. In the sixth round, Bocachica had a good round.

In the ninth round, it went back and forth the entire round with Bocachica going to the body driving Johnson to the ropes at the bell. In the tenth and final round, Johnson outlanded Bocachica in a close round.

The scores were 100-90, 97-93, and 98-92. Chris Flores was the referee.

Middleweight Olympian Troy ‘Transformer’ Isley (15-0, 5 KOs) defeated Etoundi Michel William (16-2, 12 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision.

In the first five rounds, Isley outlanded William with a strong body attack, winning all five rounds. In the seventh round, Isley suffered a small cut on the outside of his left eye.

In the eighth round, Isley came back even stronger, taking another round. In the ninth round, William became the aggressor, knowing he was well behind. In the tenth and final round, it was William using his reach to take a round.

The scores were 98-92, 96-94, and 96-94. Malik Waleed was the referee.

Lightweight Deric ‘Scooter’ Davis (7-0, 7 KOs) stopped Naheem Parker (5-3, 2 KOs) at the end of the second round of a scheduled six rounds.

In the second round’s final seconds, Davis landed a left uppercut to the body, and down went Parker for the count from referee Clancy.

Welterweight Keon ‘DB3’ Davis (4-0, 3 KOs) knocked out Michael A. Velez-Garcia (3-1, 2 KOs) at 2:22 of the second round of a scheduled six rounds.

In the second round, Davis landed a right followed by a left to the body, and down went Velez-Garcia, crawling across the ring, getting counted out by referee Bill Clancy.

Cruiserweight ‘Irish’ Patrick O’Connor (1-0, 1 KO) stopped Marcus Smith (2-2, 2 KOs) at 2:03 of the second round of a scheduled four rounds.

In the second round, O’Connor landed a right uppercut to the body, having him in the corner and hurt, when Referee Bill Clancy gave him a standing 8-count. Shortly later, O’Connor stopped Smith with several unanswered punches, having referee Clancy call a halt.

The ring announcer was Michael T. Williams.
