WBO Champion Brian Norman Jr. Responds To Bill Haney’s “Same Deal” Offer, Pushing For A Business-Focused Fight Over Social Media Chatter

WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. reacted positively to Devin Haney’s dad, Bill Haney, saying that they’ll offer him the “same deal” that he’d asked for and not received to fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis in a unification fight last November.
Bill Haney’s Fight Offer
Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) was offered $1.7 million by Ennis’ promoter, Eddie Hearn, but he wanted it increased to $2.2 million due to the fight taking place in Boots’ hometown in Philadelphia. Hearn chose not to increase the offer. He obviously regretted it when Ennis was made to look bad in his rematch with Karen Chukhadzhian.
Norman Jr. says if Bill Haney isn’t serious about his interest in making a fight between him and Devin, he wants him to “stay off Twitter.” Fans believe that Bill is just clout chasing to keep his son in the news after his stock plummeted with his timid performance against Jose Ramirez at Turki Alalshikh’s Times Square card in New York City last May.
Haney was paid millions for that fight and chose to run around the ring, winning a dull 12-round unanimous decision against Ramirez. For Bill Haney to be trying to set up a fight with Norman Jr, it’s hard to believe. Devin looked terrified against Jose, and he’s nowhere near the puncher that Norman Jr. is.
Devin would potentially be throwing what’s left of his career away by fighting Norman Jr, who hits harder than Ryan Garcia and is a lot more rugged.
Brian Norman Jr’s last 3 Fights
- Jin Sasaki: KO 3
- Derrieck Cuevas: TKO 3
- Giovani Santillan: KO 10
Norman Jr. Wants Business
“We can make this fight happen. He can go back and forth with the social media stuff, but I’m about business. If he ain’t trying to make something happen, stay off of Twitter. No matter what, I would like to fight Devin Haney,” said Brian Norman Jr. to Fighthype, reacting to Bill Haney offering a deal for him to fight Devin. “He already proved himself at 135 and 140. I think he deserves it at 147 as well.”
Bill is going to make himself and Devin look bad in the fans’ eyes if he doesn’t go through with this fight. It’ll look like he wanted to get some cheap publicity for Devin without putting him at risk of being knocked out like Norman Jr’s last opponent, Jin Sasaki.
Same deal you wanted for Boots will you take for The Dream?💰😎🫵🏽
