Fatal Fury: Haney’s Dismissal Fuels Ramirez’s Determination Ahead Of Friday Night Clash

Devin Haney sounded dismissive of his opponent, Jose Ramirez, today at the final press conference for Friday’s Fatal Fury card in New York, saying he’s going to “Dust” him and then go after Ryan Garcia. The event will be shown live on DAZN PPV, starting at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Arrogance on Display

Ramirez let Devin know that he’s going to “Find out in the first round” that he’s not the easy opponent that he thinks he is. He didn’t look pleased with Haney’s “Dust” comment because up until four years ago, Ramirez was seen as the #1 fighter in the 140-lb division.

Regardless of the outcome, Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) has got to at least look good for him to be taken seriously as the next opponent for Ryan in a rematch. If he loses to the former WBC and WBO light welterweight champion Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs) on Friday, it’s going to take a lot of the interest out of the Garcia-Haney rematch in October.

Jose Ramirez: “I know he’s a very talented fighter, but on Friday, May 2nd, I will beat Devin Haney. He’s going after the best version of Jose Ramirez, and the best chapter is yet to come,” said Ramirez during today’s final press conference for the Times Square Fatal Fury: City of Wolves event.

Devin Haney: “Y’all can boo or y’all can cheer. It doesn’t matter. It’s all noise. When I dust Jose Ramirez on Friday, I’m going to get to your boy, Ryan [Garcia] after.”

Ramirez: “He’ll find out in the first round in the first second. I’m not the best at talking, but I’m here because I’m a great fighter.”

Haney: “The talking is over. I get to Jose Ramirez on Friday, and after, y’ll know who is next [Ryan Garcia].”
